Go to the Edges
The Poetry of Joseph Rubano
The Poetry of Joseph Rubano
Many of the
poems in this volume were written out of my
experience of being a part of groups of people
doing work (and play) dedicated to living, loving
and growing into becoming human beings.* When we
meet like this, we create something that is alive
and it enlivens each of us.
Because something is alive, it moves inside and leaves ripples on the soul. I’ve made it a practice to listen to the soul ripples until they become like a taste around the tongue that has the feel of words before they are spoken. I hold these word tastes and let them tumble and grow in the dark chambers of the body while I write some down. The words that appear become part of the play and are infused with the power to carry the taste of the soul. When you take these words in, let them play; give them some time and space to release their ripples into your soul. And if you feel a smile growing, let it.
